Associate Editors
The Associate Editors form the heart of Ethics Reviews & Comments.
Without their work, ERC could not flourish.
Area of Expertise and Responsibility. Typically, an Associate Editor will
be responsible for a particular area of expertise. In some cases, two or more
Associate Editors
may share the
same
area of expertise.
Principal Responsibilities. The Associate Editors have two
principal responsibilities:
- Identifying New Books to be Reviewed. Associate Editors are responsible
for identifying new books in their area that should be reviewed. Although
the
Eidtor will
also
be responsible
for
identifying books to be reviewed, Associate Editors are intimately familiar
with their areas of expertise and are often aware of the upcoming publication
of new books before anyone outside of that area of expertise.
- Identifying Appropriate Reviewers. Associate Editors will
also be able to suggest possible reviewers for new books that they think
should be reviewed.
- Conference Panels. Associate Editors should feel free
to extend invitations to participants in panels at scholarly conferences
that are devoted to
new books. In sessions such as "Author Meets Critics," new books are
given some of their first reviews and these can easily form the basis
for reviews and replies by authors.
